The brief
16–18 October 2024 · Buyeo, Korea. HYEAN organised a specialist exchange linking historical research, tile-making demonstrations and practical craft dialogue.
The challenge
- Connect academic knowledge with the techniques that practising tile artisans carry today.
What we did
- 16 October: an East Asian tile-exchange lecture at Korea National University of Heritage.
- 17 October: traditional tile-making demonstrations at the Baekje Tile Museum.
- 18 October: technical exchange focused on decorative roof tiles.

Three Japanese traditional tile artisans and a scholar of ancient Korea–Japan exchange joined Korean craftspeople and researchers.
